Raymond Hess
Father Ray Hess was born in Pennsylvania and came West to attend college at Stanford University, graduating in 1969. He went to Church Divinity School in Berkeley and received his Master of Divinity in 1972. He studied for his Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, completing his course of study in 2000. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1975, and he has served congregations in California, Montana, Iowa, and Colorado. He and his wife Deborah live in Elk Grove and have three grown children and four grandsons. He creates watercolors and does tennis, golf, and skiing in his spare time. He has been priest-in-charge at St. George’s since 2013.
