2022 Gregory Kenneth Sherrill Memorial Scholarship Winners
Saint George’s Episcopal Church was pleased to award the 2022 Gregory Kenneth Sherrill Memorial Scholarships to this year’s recipients at our church service on June 12th. There was a reception following the service to meet these wonderful students. The scholarship has been given out since 1985 to students who graduated in the San Juan Unified School District.
This year three scholarships were given and awarded to individuals who fully intend to matriculate at a college this calendar year. On our scholarship committee this year were Aaron Atkins, Lana Engler and John Karsten. One scholarship, awarded in the amount of $4,000, was given to Michael Maslianka of Del Campo High School who will be attending UC Davis with a major in Global Disease Biology. A $3,000 scholarship was awarded to Zachary Fisch, a graduate of Casa Roble High School, who will attend UCLA with a major in Civil Engineering. Unfortunately, Irie Odom, the $2,000 scholarship recipient, was unable to attend the presentation as she was in the hospital when the awards were given. She graduated from Mira Loma High School and will attend UC Santa Cruz with a Biology major.
It is a blessing for Saint George’s to be able to award grants of financial aid to such worthy students.
